Tallinn Town Hall is 600 years old now

Town Hall at night
Posted by Hello

This is a big date for one small (by modern standards) cute building. Town Hall at Tallinn is first mentioned and most probably indeed built in 1404. I am always amazed by the quality of building achieved in medieval age. After standing 600 years, Town Hall is still in very good shape!

Since we bought a digital camera a month ago, we go round in circles and shoot, shoot, shoot. We are lucky to have some really nice object to picture in our city!

Where do I work?

I work in this building

The building looks big, and it is. It was actually a first high building built after indepence. Some say it is ugly. My first reaction was "Dallas Wells Fargo Bank building tweaked", since my memories of Texas were fresh (I was in Texas in 1998, this building is built in 2001). Actually, our building is also a bank. I work on seventh floor, so the view from the window is nice, but not as stunning as could be.

Evacuation Plan

This is my favourite picture taken at Tori Horse Farm. There were lot of horses, there was a pleasant ride, but I was really impressed by this picture. It shows a law of having an evacuation plan for every building. This building has a very straightforward construction, I think.

Tori Hell

May, 9th - Christer, Rickard, Johnny and Affo @ Tori Hell

The next day after canooing, but before horseriding, we visited a place called Tori Hell. Tori is a village where we were, and Hell is a place on the bank of Pärnu River where the Devil used to live. There are beautiful small caves in the Hell. We were the whole company out of town that weekend, and we have three important guests from Stockholm also. On the picture you can see me posing with them. As you can see, Christer, Rickard and Affo are enjoying the trip. You, reader, would also do that if you had a chance!

Horsmen (and horsewomen)

May, 9th - Lena rides the horse
Posted by Hello

While my wife was riding a horse like amazon, I was mostly sitting in a cab and taking pictures. Not because I did not like riding or there was no possibility, but because a very good breakfast did not like the shaking my horse did trying to catch up with other horsemen. Next time I will not eat couple of days before sitting on horseback :)

First-time canooing

May, 8th - First time canooing

It was a little bit scary to sit in the canoo. After that, we travelled from one bank of the river to another. But in twenty minutes we got accustomed to this mean of transportation and managed to go 21 km down the river like all others.

Well, some wise people argue that this boat is not a canoo, but a kayak. Well, I don't care...

Playing Star Wars

May, 8th - Playing Star Wars with Sergei
Posted by Hello

That weekend we went out of town with a company I work for. We took a canoo trip in central Estonia and a horse ride next day. This picture shows me and my colleague Sergei fighting on pseudo-StarWars-swords made from empty water bottles. Weather was perfect, trip was excellent (actually, it was a first-time experience of that kind for me!)and mood was very appropriate.

Celebration of Day of Tallinn

May, 15th - Day of Tallinn.
Posted by Hello

This day Tallinn celebrates joining the Lubeck Law (in other words, joining Hansa union). There are lot of celebrations in Old Town, with people in medieval clothes (including mayor!). We managed to find these lovely comedians to picture with. One was "sad", another "happy", and third was something-in-between. Assuming me standing on the right side, you can guess mood of all three comedians on large picture!

Just started to blog

Hi!
I just decided to start my blog today. I do not know yet what I will write here. As it is today, I am just curious of technology. But in the nearest future I expect to be creative enough to post something interesting.

I think my posts will appear here in English, Russian, Estonian and broken Swedish. Maybe also in other languages, depending on my mood on a particular day of my life.

Sometimes I have a thought I would like to share. I have no clue if anyone will ever read my blog. I actually do not care, but if you do, and if you have something to add to my thoughts, you're welcome! In all languages I mentioned and others too!

I also hope that this blog will help me to give a new life to my home page which wasn't updated for 5 years or so. Let's see...
